Professional Development

Here are some useful links for you Professional Development. I put here only those websites which I know and which I have tried and now would like to recommend.

If you wonder, why it is so important, watch the video below.
You can find a great deal of useful information on these websites. In some of them, you will be able to get advice or feedback from other teachers all over the world.

It is a pleasant bonus that on these websites you can receive a certificate for your activity (sometimes you have to pay for it).

TeachingEnglish|British Council BBC

This website is rich in useful information.
To start with, you can find Lesson plans which can come in handy.
Then, I like this website because of courses. I attended one of them (STS) and it was helpful. I advise you to spend a bit more money and to order the one with assessed portfolio. This is a good opportunity for you to reflect and get feedback from your moderator.
There are articles, tips for teachers, webinars, seminars, activities to use in class and other useful information.
  •  Teaching resources
  • Teacher development
  • Teacher training
  • Articles
  • Community

Just visit it and you will understand that it is a fountain of information.

Here it is necessary to pay for your membership, but I think it is a good value for money.
You can find numerous courses that can be helpful in your profession. If you are a member, you get a discount for all courses.
Apart from that, this website enables you to take part in webinars. At the end of each webinar, the speak leaves some time for questions and if something was unclear or if you curious about something - just ask a question. Moreover, if you have missed the webinar you would like to attend, there are replays of all webinars.
Then, quite often, a consultant is invited and during the whole week, you can ask them questions on a certain subject. Herbert Puchta, Mike McCarthy, Penny Ur etc. – these are some consultants but there are other great people too.

You can find articles, videos, advice and a lot of other stuff on this website.

This website is new for me. However, I can say that it focuses not only on teaching. You go to this website, choose a category and then try any course you like for FREE. This can be Business&Management or Law or History or Science… so any subject you are interested in. There is “Teaching&Studying” category for teachers and students.

English Profile. To find more about English Profile, watch the video below.
The English Vocabulary Profile offers reliable information about which words (and importantly, which meanings of those words) and phrases are known and used by learners at each level of the Common European Framework (CEF).

In the same way that the English Vocabulary Profile explores which meanings of words and phrases are known by learners at each CEFR level, the English Grammar Profile offers invaluable insights into which aspects of grammatical competence are typically mastered at each CEFR level.
