How to learn new words

These are some suggestions of how to learn new words with you students

I took these ideas from the discussion forum on this website (Cambridge Englishteacher)

• Highlight new words that you see and look them up;
• Keep a vocabulary notebook;
• Through reading;
• "you can learn new words if you are able to read everyday";
• Through writing;
• Through songs;
• Using visual aids (photos, pictures);
• Through games;
• Watch movies;
• Repeat it very often;
• Always create a context in which you can use a new word;
• Write this word as many times as you can;
• Make associations;
• Learn new words in a context;
• Make your own sentences with new words;
• Learn expressions with this word;
• Find synonyms/ antonyms to these words;
• Learn new words by sticking sticky notes (post it notes) around the house in various places so that you are reminded of words;
